History

Yield Guild Games (YGG) was founded by Gabby Dizon and Beryl Li in the Philippines which has pioneered the scholarship model for NFT games and has raised over $30M across multiple funding rounds including a $4.6M equity round led by Andreessen Horowitz.

In July 2021, the YGG governance token launched via IDO on SushiSwap’s MISO platform, where it raised 12.5M and has since been deployed across multiple chains including Ronin and Abstract.

Bloomberg coverage from June 2022 highlighted YGG’s role in the Axie Infinity ecosystem, quoting Gabby Dizon’s view that the game creates an “investor mindset” among new populations, while also noting the broader play‑to‑earn phenomenon in the Philippines.

In March 2024, YGG’s token went live on the Ronin blockchain network, a strategic move to support the network by attracting gamers and games. By May 2025, YGG announced that the $YGG token had officially launched on Abstract, an Ethereum L2 designed to make Web3 accessible for everyone, further expanding its chain footprint.

In November 2025, the $LOL token was successfully launched on the YGG Play launchpad, where the $YGG token has already seen over $1M staked since its launch in October 15.
