Trust Wallet is a mobile cryptocurrency wallet that supports a wide range of digital assets. It offers features like decentralized exchange access, Web3 browser for DApps, and secure storage of cryptocurrencies. The wallet emphasizes user-friendliness and security, catering to both beginners and experienced users.
After participating in many early ICOs, Viktor Radcheko became intrigued with how to store and efficiently manage his many ERC-20 tokens. He began working on the idea for Trust Wallet in September, 2017 and built the initial mobile app, which could send and receive ETH and ERC-20 tokens, in about three weeks.
Trust Wallet launched in November, 2017 and immediately gained significant user adoption. Early users were attracted to the app’s “automagically tokens'' feature, which allowed users to identify and reveal any ERC-20 tokens associated with their address. By March 2018, Radchenko and a small team switched to working full-time, adding features and responding to increasing support requests.
Trust Wallet was acquired by Binance on July 31, 2018, as their first acquisition: Trust Wallet added a secure, on-chain mobile wallet to the list of Binance’s services. Viktor Radchenko stayed on through the acquisition and, as part of the deal, retained autonomy from Binance to continue steering the Trust Wallet project.
In 2020, Trust Wallet was ranked 6th among the top ten most downloaded cryptocurrency apps.
Trust Wallet is clearly differentiated from competitors on several fronts: their expansive coverage of different types of crypto assets, their diversity of blockchain integrations, and their emphasis on simplifying unified integration on both sides of the wallet (on the user side as an abstracted layer, or single interface, and on the developer side as an open-source codebase for building DApps).
