Tensor is a NFT marketplace on the Solana blockchain that transitioned into an AMM-integrated marketplace allowing users to provide liquidity for both buy and sell orders within specific NFT collections.
Tensor's main products and features include an AMM & Marketplace that integrates auctions and instant liquidity for NFT sales on Solana, with no execution fees and a 1% fee for takers. It provides collection-wide bids, listings with dynamic pricing, and market-making orders for liquidity provision. Additionally, Tensor acts as an aggregator with analysis tools. It also offers a Rarity Ranking mechanism to assess NFT prices based on rarity.
Tensor was created in 2022 by Ilja Moisejevs and Richard Wu through participation in Solana’s Riptide Hackathon and Summer Camp Hackathon. In June 2022, Tensor launched in a private beta mode before opening to the public in July 2022.
Tensor ran three “seasons” where users could accrue Tensor Points by using Tensor and staying loyal. At the end of each season, “Treasure Boxes” were distributed to the season’s eligible participants that earned Tensor Points. Season 1 concluded in March 2023, Season 2 in July 2023, and Season 3 in April 2024. Season 4 began on April 2, 2024.
Notably, near the conclusion of Season 2 in July 2023, Tensor introduced the Tensorians, a 10,000 profile picture (PFP) collection on Solana. Users were airdropped Tensorian Shards, which could be used along with SOL to mint Tensorians until the mint closed in September 2023.
In March 2024, the Tensor Foundation introduced the TNSR token. On April 8, 2024, TNSR went live. Eligible users that had accumulated Treasure Boxes throughout Tensor’s three seasons or held Tensorians could claim TNSR tokens.
