About

Solv Protocol is a decentralized liquidity infrastructure protocol for ERC-3525 Semi-Fungible Tokens (SFTs). It connects on-chain entities with individual and institutional investors in a liquidity network, offering solutions such as delta-neutral strategies, yield enhancement, and structured products. Solv V3's security features include multi-party fund screening, segregated usage permissions, and coordinated risk intervention.

History

Early Development & Launch (2020–2021)

Founded in 2020 by Ryan Chow, Will Wang, and Meng “Mike” Yan to unlock Bitcoin’s utility within DeFi. The team’s early focus was to create flexible, on-chain financial instruments through the ERC-3525 token standard and turn idle BTC into a productive, yield-bearing asset class bridging DeFi and TradFi.

In March 2021, Solv raised $1M USD through an initial seed round, followed by its mainnet launch in June 2021. The platform initially focused on tokenizing financial assets before gradually pivoting to Bitcoin-centric liquidity and staking solutions as it recognized the emerging potential of BTCFi.

Governance & Organizational Direction

Solv Protocol is governed through its native token, SOLV, which provides governance rights, staking incentives, and fee reductions. The project remains led by Ryan Chow (CEO), Will Wang (CTO), and Meng Yan (Co-Founder). In 2024, Solv pivoted from general financial tokenization toward Bitcoin-based liquidity and yield products, solidifying its strategic focus within BTCFi.

Partnerships & Ecosystem Expansion

Solv has attracted major institutional backers, including Binance Labs, Blockchain Capital, Laser Digital (Nomura), and OKX Ventures. The protocol has integrated with networks such as Avalanche and Mantle to expand liquidity and yield products. In 2024, Solv launched SCOPE, an RWA-linked yield suite across major DeFi ecosystems. The protocol introduced the Staking Abstraction Layer (SAL), a modular infrastructure layer enabling multi-chain Bitcoin staking, validator yield abstraction, and LST issuance.

Recent Developments (2024-2025)

In 2024, Solv launched SolvBTC, a universal on-chain Bitcoin reserve token pegged 1:1 to BTC or its wrapped equivalents. SolvBTC allows BTC to circulate across multiple chains and participate in yield strategies natively. As of 2025, SolvBTC operates across Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Mantle, Merlin, and BOB, with code and contracts audited by CertiK, SlowMist, and Quantstamp.

The team targets a scalable on-chain Bitcoin reserve exceeding $100 million, designed for institutional liquidity providers seeking transparent BTC yield strategies. Independent analyses highlight operational dependencies on wrapped BTC and third-party protocols as key risk factors (CoinBureau Review).
