MatterChain is a Substrate-based Layer-1 for verifiable confidential compute that coordinates compute resources, networking, secrets management, and settlement for compute jobs. Jobs run through Masked Compute, which splits inputs across nodes using multi-party computation so no single node sees the whole input, return zero-knowledge proofs of correct execution, and release results only to authorized parties through threshold decryption. MTR is the native token, used for fees, validator and resource-provider staking, and governance.
MatterChain is stewarded by Matter Foundation DAO LLC, a Marshall Islands non-profit DAO LLC formed in June 2026, and developed by Open Matter Network, Inc. (OpenMatter), a Delaware company led by CEO Renee Davis whose products include Masked Compute, QuantumGuard, and Datavizor. OpenMatter launched on MatterChain mainnet on June 30, 2026, alongside an equity round led by Quantum Frontier Fund. The network uses Nominated Proof-of-Stake and launched with a vetted set of institutional validators, routing heavy workloads to registered compute providers rather than running them onchain.
MTR has a 500 million token cap. It is native on MatterChain and bridged 1:1 to Base as an ERC-20, where trading began on Aerodrome in July 2026. The supply is allocated 33% to the DAO Treasury, 24% to OpenMatter, 20% to operator rewards, 15% to team and advisors, and 8% to angels and investors, with about 12.5 million MTR sold in an angel round between April and June 2026. Holders vote on a 1 MTR = 1 vote basis, with onchain governance targeted to activate within 90 days of TGE, and a 5-of-9 Security Council is limited to security-critical actions.
