Kaia (formerly known as Klaytn) is a public blockchain platform optimized for enterprise use, providing high throughput, low latency, and low gas fees. It supports immediate transaction finality and runs the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling the execution of Solidity contracts. The platform consists of a Core Cell Network for consensus, an Endpoint Node Network for transaction processing, and Service Chains for decentralized applications.
In 2018 Klaytn was created by GroundX which is the blockchain division of one of South Koreas largest conglomerates; Kakao group
In the first version of the white paper, 'Klaytn 1.0' Klaytn is described as being a highly optimized, BFT-based public blockchain that aims to meet enterprise-grade reliability.
Fast forward to 2021 for Klaytn 2.0, where Version 2.0 of the whitepaper focuses still on being this but now with added focus on being ‘the metaverse blockchain’.
Klaytn is aware of the growth in sectors such as DeFi & NFTs, DAOs & the metaverse. With this in mind, Klaytn has pushed international development efforts, global partnerships and had a launchpad with Binance in recent times to push public involvement and spearhead its adoption.
