History

Everscale is a decentralized peer-to-peer blockchain network launched on top of Ever OS.

It was "created" on November 10, 2021 after its community agreed on renaming it from Free TON. Its platform codebase is based on TON technology originally developed by the messaging application Telegram and its CTO, Nikolai Durov before being subsequently built on by Everscale community. Telegram later shuttered its project after enduring a months-long battle with the U.S. SEC that questioned the legality of the secondary sales for Telegram's proposed token, GRAM. In response, the company open-sourced its codebase, allowing the Everscale community to take over future development efforts.
