Bonk is a Solana-based cryptocurrency project that issues a dog-themed meme token used across various decentralized applications. It gained initial distribution through an airdrop and is integrated with multiple platforms in areas such as payments, gaming, and DeFi within the Solana ecosystem.

History

Bonk was launched on Dec. 25, 2022, in an attempt to raise the spirits of Solana community members “at a time when the sentiment surrounding Solana’s price was at an all time low” (A Brief History, time 0:13). In January 2023, BONK reached a high of over 400,000 tokenholders and was the most traded token on Solana outside of SOL and USDC.

Approximately a year later, the project team released BonkBot (Dec. 14, 2023) and BonkSwap (Dec. 15, 2023). The BONK token remains live on Solana and has also been bridged to Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, and Arbitrum.

In August 2024, Bonk was named Presenting Partner for Baseball United’s Inaugural Season.

In March 2025, the BONK team has acquired of Exchange Art, a multichain art marketplace.

In April 2025, the Bonk Inu team has released, in collaboration with Raydium Protocol, the launch of Letsbonk, a memecoin launchpad.

In June 2025, eToro has announced that BONK, among over 30 other cryptocurrencies, were accessible for U.S. users.

In July 2025, ETF speculation reached a fever pitch as Tuttle Capital filed for a 2x leveraged BONK ETF.
