Boba Network is a blockchain-based Layer-2 optimistic rollup scaling solution that facilitates fast transactions and Hybrid Compute technology. Hybrid Compute enables Web3 and Web2 interoperability, allowing smart contracts to call upon any external Web2 API to execute complex algorithms.

History

Boba Network, founded by Alan Chiu, is an Ethereum Layer 2 solution. Boba uses optimistic rollup technology, which uses smart contracts to handle expensive transactions on the Boba Network and bundles these transactions to post to the main chain. This allows transactions on the Boba network to be cheaper and quicker than on the main chain while inheriting the security assurances of the main chain. This execution environment will enable developers and users to deploy and interact with applications in an environment that mimics Ethereum.

In March 2022, Boba Network launched a new technology, Hybrid Compute, enabling Web3 and Web2 interoperability. Boba's Hybrid Compute technology allows smart contracts to call upon any external Web2 API to execute complex algorithms in a single transaction. The technology will help bridge Web2 companies looking to deploy on Web3 and help Web3 developers gain the complexity and computing power of Web2.
