Aleph Zero is a public blockchain with privacy-enhancing features. It uses a consensus protocol integrated with Substrate stack technology, focusing on speed, scalability, validation time, and security. The blockchain employs Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) technology, smart contracts, and a "hub and spoke" model for efficient, decentralized transactions and business interaction. Additionally, it utilizes zero-knowledge proofs and secure multi-party computation for data privacy and security.
The Aleph Zero project started in early 2018 with the founding team providing the primary funds. In 2021, this blockchain closed total funding of $15 million and launched the first version of mainnet. In 2022, the team is working to bring smart contracts to the testnet, admitting external validators, launching the staking program, deploying bridges to popular networks, releasing Common (first DEX built on top of Aleph Zero), and listing on exchanges (CEXs and DEXs).
This project aims to solve for what it views as shortcomings of other infrastructure layers within the following industries: the Internet of Things, automotive, ESG, and healthcare. Aleph Zero wants to set itself apart by reducing energy consumption, increasing transaction throughput, and decreasing validation time (latency).
