Introduction

An ERC-20 token is a protocol standard for creating tokens on Ethereum. ERC-20 tokens include a common set of rules that define how a token can be transferred, approved and requested. This allows seamless token creation for new decentralized protocols without having to create a new consensus layer as tokens benefit from the security of Ethereum.
