Written by Steve Miller

Introduction

Cryptoassets are digital goods employing cryptography to secure a decentralized network with activity stored on a distributed ledger. The term was popularized by Chris Burniske and Jack Tatar's book Cryptoassets: The Innovative Investor's Guide to Bitcoin and Beyond to act as a more encompassing term than cryptocurrency by encapsulating the broader range of activities that can take place outside of value transfer.
