Worldcoin: Decentralized Identity in an Online World

PoP will only continue to become an increasingly important issue as technology advances. While earlier attempts at PoP served as worthy proofs of concept, Worldcoin appears to be the most promising crypto-powered solution to the Sybil problem. If Worldcoin can integrate across apps that the general public uses daily, such as Google and X (formerly Twitter), then the protocol could grow significantly. Verifying with the Orb could mean never having to complete a CAPTCHA again.

The proliferation of World App can onboard an entirely untapped market of crypto users into the Ethereum ecosystem, with use cases ranging from antibot mechanisms to loyalty programs or even distribution of government-funded resources. As Worldcoin ramps up its marketing efforts and onboards more users, usage of the app will continue to grow, and more integrations will likely follow. As an asset, WLD does not appear to be very attractive in the near term due to poor circulating token distribution and a lack of utility, but continued growth will be a notable catalyst to keep an eye on.
