Uniswap, the renowned DEX, recently launched UniswapX, a novel trading protocol that combines on-chain and off-chain liquidity through a Dutch auction mechanism. This innovative approach aims to enhance execution quality and provide users with an improved trading experience.
The Dutch auction feature within UniswapX introduces a competitive market for market makers, referred to as fillers in the UniswapX ecosystem, to fulfill user orders. By leveraging this mechanism, users have the potential to achieve better execution outcomes. The underlying concept of a Dutch auction allows fillers to respond to user quotes, which are obtained off-chain through a request-for-quote (RFQ) system. This off-chain interaction enables fillers to efficiently source the required liquidity to fulfill user orders.

One significant advantage of the UniswapX protocol is the elimination of gas fees for users. Gas fees, which are typically associated with on-chain transactions, can be a considerable burden for traders, particularly during times of high network congestion. With UniswapX, users can bypass these gas fees and enjoy a more cost-effective trading experience.
