Weekend Reads Time!
Below the fold, you'll see a bit more info on a killer new alerts feature we added to OnChainFx.com last week, as well as several of the top miscellaneous crypto posts from the past week that we think are worth reading in full.
But before we get into that, I'd like to draw your attention to Wuhan's coronavirus, aka 2019-nCoV, which in our opinion, is significantly under-covered and mis-reported by western media. There's a fine line between "strategic silence" - the editorial directive to tamp down a certain narrative that might be net harmful to promote to the general public - and "dropping the ball" when it comes to keep the public informed about key events that have the chance to emerge as the story of the decade.
I've spent the past week trying to wrap my head around what's going on in Wuhan, and to get some sort of reliable data sets to write about this topic. The findings so far are sobering, but I need the weekend to properly scrub the numbers and collect my thoughts on what it all means. Not just for crypto, but for the global economy.
Inciting mass hysteria is reckless and irresponsible, but if there's a 5%? 10%? chance coronavirus becomes a 9/11 moment for China, there should be better urgency to prepare in the West for all contingencies.
I'll share more of my thoughts on Monday. (My trip down-the-rabbit-hole was the reason your getting this edition a day late.)
But right now, here's what I'm following most closely:
Johns Hopkins CSSE - twice daily global case updates
Wired's Take - finally a MSM article that struck the right balance
You can and should prepare for this sort of thing without panicking. Now.

P.S. I'm going to write much, much more about the SEC's proposed crypto safe harbor, which was the biggest positive development for Messari since we founded the company. I hit on some bullet points here. Stay tuned for more.
