With its deep roots in Vietnam’s blockchain economy and a global vision for decentralized infrastructure, U2U Network aims to bridge physical and digital systems, laying the foundation for scalable, secure, and user-owned internet infrastructure.

Vietnam’s Crypto Surge and U2U Network’s Strategic Position

Vietnam has become one of the most active and influential crypto markets in the world. As of early 2025, over 21% of Vietnamese citizens report owning digital assets, placing the country second globally in crypto ownership, just behind the United Arab Emirates. This trend is no accident. It reflects years of steady grassroots adoption driven by a young, mobile-native population, high smartphone penetration, and a deeply entrepreneurial culture that embraces new financial technologies.

One critical accelerator of this growth is the current tax-free environment surrounding digital assets in Vietnam. Without capital gains taxes on crypto holdings, digital assets have become increasingly attractive to everyday investors and tech-savvy users alike. This has fostered a vibrant onchain culture encompassing everything from trading and NFTs to DeFi protocols and GameFi projects.

The Vietnamese government is not standing on the sidelines. In a significant policy shift, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued a directive in March 2025 requiring the Ministry of Finance, the State Bank, and the Ministry of Justice to finalize and submit a comprehensive legal framework for digital assets and digital currencies. This move is a key part of Vietnam’s broader national digital transformation roadmap and a response to growing domestic interest in crypto.

In parallel, the government has announced that it will pilot the establishment of a national digital asset exchange. This state-sanctioned exchange would serve as a regulated venue for the trading of cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets, positioning Vietnam alongside countries like Japan and Singapore that are developing structured, compliant blockchain ecosystems. Details on the pilot’s scope, technological partners, and regulatory sandbox model are expected in the coming months.

This policy environment, marked by high adoption and government engagement, presents a unique opportunity for infrastructure projects like U2U. As a Vietnamese-founded L1 blockchain built for real-world decentralized applications, U2U is one of the most strategically aligned platforms in the market. Its emphasis on scalable infrastructure, low-latency subnets, and real-world utility positions it as a natural partner for national-scale deployments and enterprise integrations.

More importantly, U2U’s leadership team, composed of prominent figures in Vietnam’s blockchain industry, offers the project a unique ability to navigate local dynamics. Founders like Luu Tran, an early contributor to Ethereum and former CTO of KardiaChain, and Trang Phung, the former CEO of Bvnex.com, Vietnam’s first fiat-to-crypto exchange, bring not just technical expertise but deep networks within Vietnam’s crypto, tech, and regulatory circles. This provides a critical edge as the country moves toward formalizing the role of digital assets in its financial system.

On the user side, U2U’s mobile-first approach is highly compatible with Vietnamese user behavior. Products like the U2DPN decentralized VPN service are designed to run on everyday smartphones, enabling participation in crypto infrastructure without the need for advanced hardware or technical literacy. This matches perfectly with Vietnam’s highly mobile, app-driven digital landscape.

Beyond product-market fit, U2U is already deeply embedded in Vietnam’s blockchain ecosystem. The team has hosted and participated in major local events, including Vietnam Blockchain Week and the Vietnam Tech Impact Summit. These appearances are not just marketing; they signal an intent to lead in policy, technology, and community building as Vietnam accelerates its move into the digital asset economy.

Vietnam is no longer an emerging market for crypto. It is a proving ground for scalable adoption, infrastructure experimentation, and regulatory innovation. With its technical architecture, strong domestic team, and decentralized ethos, U2U Network is positioned to be both a beneficiary and a builder of Vietnam’s crypto future.

Strategic Capital: U2U's Series A Funding Round

As U2U Network scales its infrastructure and expands global operations, it is quietly finalizing a $10 million Series A funding round. Leading the round is SSI Digital, the tech arm of SSI Securities Corporation, Vietnam’s largest and most established financial institution, with a $2.5 million anchor investment. This marks a significant milestone not only for U2U but for the broader convergence of blockchain and traditional finance in Vietnam.

Founded in 1999, SSI has built a two-decade track record as the country’s most influential player in capital markets. With over $3.73 billion in assets under management and a 2024 charter capital increase to VND 19.6 trillion (approximately $800 million), SSI commands influence across institutional investment, corporate finance, and capital markets in Vietnam.

In recent years, SSI has moved aggressively into the digital economy through SSI Digital Ventures (SSID), its specialized blockchain and tech innovation arm. SSID has committed $200 million in direct capital with a broader $500 million co-investment mandate to back emerging leaders in blockchain, AI, and digital infrastructure. In 2025, SSID announced plans to deploy $10 million into high-impact blockchain and AI projects in Vietnam, signaling institutional conviction in the sector’s future growth.

This Series A round builds on U2U Network’s June 2024 $13.8 million seed round, which included backing from high-profile investors such as IDG Blockchain, Chain Capital, and KuCoin Ventures.

Together, these rounds have equipped U2U with both the capital and credibility to scale aggressively. SSID’s involvement, in particular, opens new channels for enterprise adoption, government collaboration, and investor confidence. As U2U prepares to expand its subnet infrastructure, launch its SDK, and deliver hardware at scale, this strategic capital base ensures the project is well-positioned to execute on its long-term roadmap.

Staex x U2U: Grant Partnership for Real-World DePIN Infrastructure

In April 2025, U2U Network and Staex entered into a multi-stage grant partnership aimed at deploying real-world devices onto the U2U blockchain and advancing decentralized physical infrastructure use cases. Staex, a Berlin-based infrastructure provider for connected machines, will integrate its communication and data management technology across mobility, energy, and aerial sectors using U2U’s blockchain stack.

The partnership will begin with a pilot of 10 buses outfitted with U2U’s U2DPN WiFi hotspots and Staex’s integration layer. The goal is to collect real-time data such as GPS, passenger count, emissions, and weather while also incentivizing passengers to interact with dApps in the U2U ecosystem. The pilot will culminate in a joint case study and presentation to local fleet partner MIBO.

The second phase will scale the deployment to 200 devices, including buses, IP cameras, servers, and IoT hardware. Staex will begin testing storage solutions on U2U Subnets, with support from the U2U Foundation, including gas fee grants for up to 730 million transactions and 3TB in data storage credits. Key metrics such as mobile coverage, air quality, and device health will be used to demonstrate the performance of the DePIN model at scale.

Subsequent milestones will integrate Staex into the energy sector, with at least 100 EV-related devices onboarded and telemetry gathered from chargers, solar panels, and grid infrastructure. Later stages include integrating drone and surveillance networks, tracking metrics like geolocation, air quality, battery performance, and live video analytics.

Each phase is accompanied by co-branded developer content, dashboards, and enterprise-facing events. Together, U2U and Staex aim to turn live machine data into programmable infrastructure, positioning U2U as a foundational layer for high-volume, high-value real-world applications.

U2DPN

U2DPN is a decentralized VPN service built on U2U Network's DPN Subnet. It transforms everyday internet-connected mobile devices into contributor nodes that share surplus bandwidth in exchange for U2U rewards, creating a fully decentralized bandwidth marketplace.

Unlike traditional VPNs that rely on centralized servers, U2DPN leverages a peer-to-peer network to manage and secure data transmission. This approach enhances privacy, reduces the risk of data logging, and eliminates central points of failure.

The platform has attracted over 60,000 contributors from more than 100 countries, demonstrating its global reach and the growing demand for decentralized privacy solutions. As of June 13, 2025, 91.7 million sessions have been served.
