According to Ripple's newest markets report the company sold a total of $251.51 million worth of $XRP in the second quarter, up nearly 50% from $169.42 million in the first quarter. Of the total amount $106.87 million was done through direct institutional sales and $144.64 million through programmatic sales. As previously noted in our research, and later acknowledged by the company, Ripple's previous methodology of basing sales on a portion of overall volume was potentially flawed because it factored in exchanges with heavy wash trading. To remedy this Ripple has committed to using "CryptoCompare’s Top Tier (CCTT), the exchanges rated “AA,” “A,” and “B” by its ExchangeBenchmark."
