🔐Ripple Foundation held $1.2 Billion in restricted XRP in FY 2018

If the Ripple Foundation for Financial Innovation were a token project, it would rank in the top 20 by market cap.

According to nonprofit information aggregator Guidestar, the Ripple Foundation (formerly called Rippleworks), pulled in $297 million in contributions during fiscal year 2018 (the year ending April 30, 2018), and held assets worth a staggering $1.2 billion. Most contributions and assets have been held in XRP ($XRP) subject to significant long-term selling restrictions, so it is possible the Foundation's net assets have declined 50-75% in the current fiscal year.

Unlike other industry data providers, Messari excludes this figure from our "circulating supply” estimates to more accurately reflect XRP's market cap, and prevent capital allocators from incorrectly indexing the asset's relative market dominance. Our full supply methodology can be found here.
