A new report from Binance's research department studies the potential outcomes of Monero's ($XMR) recent dynamic block-size upgrade and consensus algorithm change designed to effectively "fork out" ASIC miners. After parsing the motivations for the protocol upgrade, the report reaches two possible outcomes. First, mining Monero could remain fairly unprofitable for household miners. Or the fork's low hash rate could translate into a higher probability of suffering from a 51% attack.
