In June, Polygon Labs unveiled Polygon 2.0, a strategic evolution of the Polygon ecosystem. Since the announcement, Polygon Labs has published a sequence of posts, highlighting the different facets of the evolving ecosystem:
- Architecture: The new framework comprises four protocol layers: Staking Layer, Interop Layer, Execution Layer, and Proving Layer.
- Tokenomics: The introduction of a new native token, POL. It enhances validator utility and removes the previous 10 billion supply cap in favor of an inflationary model.
- Governance: Polygon 2.0 will have three principal governance pillars each with its own distinct governance framework: Protocol Governance, System Smart Contract Governance, and Community Treasury Governance.
