Akash Mainnet 6 Upgrade
Adding to its existing cloud resources network, the Akash network will be adding GPU service capabilities (currently estimated to be August 31) following the successful vote on the network upgrade. The upgrade comes after a multi-week GPU testnet which had 1,300+ participants. To ensure a successful mainnet deployment, the testnet focused on four broad categories:
- Onboarding GPU providers: This is a crucial step in developing the “Akash Supercloud”. Testing the onboarding process allowed the team to smoothen out any UX issues and fix any onboarding-related bugs.
- Deploying AI workloads: Both large and more niche models were successfully deployed on the testnet. Deployed models included well-known systems such as Stable Diffusion, LLaMa, and many others.
- Creating deployment specifications: Each deployment of a model requires a tech spec to be created (the specific format for Akash deployments is Stack Definition Language).
