HandyBrowser is the new browser that runs on top of the Handshake protocol. HandyBrowser is spearheaded by the team that built CipherBrowser which was acquired by Coinbase.
Why it matters:
- The HandyBrowser operates using a Docker container which holds a full Handshake node that works behind the scenes for the browser. This means that as each additional HandyBrowser user will also seamlessly run a node.
- Handshake is building replacements for the existing infrastructure of the internet (Browser, domains, etc). However, the team is prioritizing open standards rather than joining the browser wars. The team has stated that HandyBrowser can be proof of concept that is eventually implemented into other web3 browsers like Brave and Opera.
