Gelato Rollups-as-a-Service for the Polygon CDK

To simplify building rollups, Rollups-as-a-Service (RaaS) providers are forming around the various rollup frameworks in both the Ethereum and Celestia ecosystems. Solutions range from white-glove rollup deployment and management services to no-code rollup platforms to launch a rollup in a few clicks. RaaS providers monetize from rollup deployment fees and also from ongoing maintenance costs such as operating full nodes, sequencers, provers, or settlement layers on behalf of their clients.

A focused RaaS strategy, undertaken by teams like Conduit servicing the OP Stack and Caldera with the OP Stack and Arbitrum Nitro, allows a RaaS provider to be the go-to solution for building rollups within a specific ecosystem or sector. Through partnerships with rollup frameworks and packaging numerous infrastructure solutions, these specialized RaaS providers can be additive to frameworks, promoting an ecosystem where various stakeholders work together to advance the framework’s adoption.

Last week, smart contract infrastructure platform Gelato unveiled a new RaaS offering, joining the modular landscape as a dedicated RaaS provider for the Polygon CDK. Gelato is the second RaaS provider with a focus on Ethereum-centric zk solutions, joining Opside which is focused on both the zkSync ZK Stack and the Polygon CDK.

As an existing onchain infrastructure provider, the expansion is a natural extension of Gelato’s offering, allowing the project to grow in tandem with the rise of rollup ecosystems. Gelato has the advantage of an existing infrastructure suite and network of middleware services to service Polygon zkEVM validium chains.
