Fogo launched mainnet on Nov. 25, 2025, as an L1 purpose-built for institutional trading infrastructure, with USDC transfers enabled through native integration with Wormhole. Mainnet validators have been onboarded behind the scenes prior to public announcement, though most ecosystem applications remain in testnet with no confirmed migration timeline.
Developed by Douro Labs, the team behind Pyth Network, Fogo testnet delivers 40ms blocks through pure Firedancer implementation. The blockchain runs a curated validator architecture across three geographic zones (APAC, Europe, North America) with multi-local consensus that rotates active validators during regional peak trading hours.
Traditional finance venues like NASDAQ and CME process 100K+ operations per second with single-digit millisecond latency. Solana's 400ms blocks remain insufficient for true high-frequency trading applications, creating an opening for specialized infrastructure. Fogo explicitly trades maximum decentralization for institutional-grade performance, targeting market makers and professional trading firms rather than competing for consumer applications. The network raised $13.5M across a $5.5M seed round led by Distributed Global and CMS Holdings in December 2024, followed by an $8M public sale via Echo in January 2025 at a $100M FDV, with 3K+ participants.
Fogo's devnet achieved ~46K theoretical TPS with 20ms blocks in January 2025. Testnet launched March 31, 2025, initially permissioned before opening to the public in July 2025. Pre-mainnet performance showed < 1-second finality across validators distributed in three consensus zones producing 25 blocks per second.
The Fogo Foundation launched August 2025, establishing governance infrastructure and treasury management. The foundation manages the Fogo Flames incentive program, which distributed 1M points weekly during Season 1 based on Oracle Integrity Staking, trading activity, and social participation. Fogo Flames Season 1.5 launched on December 5th 2025 following mainnet application deployments, running until December 19th 2025 with random snapshots focused specifically on onchain gaming activity and LP provision.
