NFTs are an emerging class of assets that enable new markets and present the possibility to port intellectual property onto blockchain networks.
The earliest NFTs were digital images, CryptoPunks, Autoglyphs, and CryptoKitties – just to name a few. As the NFT landscape evolved, trading cards and gaming assets came next, although they’re still fairly rudimentary.
Music, for the most part, has had a highway-to-hell-of-a-time getting ported onto blockchains.
Ujo Music, a venture by ConsenSys was essentially the first attempt at creating a decentralized music platform. While Ujo was a half-decade too early, ConsenSys hasn’t given up on the goal, but has opted for a different approach. ConsenSys backed company, Treum recently released EulerBeats, an NFT project that creates algorithmically generated music on Ethereum.
EulerBeats is arguably the first algorithmically generated music on a blockchain. The name “Euler” is a nod to the mathematician Leonhard Euler (pronounced “oiler”) who’s phi function was used to generate the beat tracks and cover artwork.
