🚔 Crypto thefts hit $530 million in Japan

A recently released report from the National Police Agency (NPA) of Japan shows that incidents involving crypto theft tripled in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year. So far this year, more than 60 billion yen, around $533 million, worth of cryptoassets have been stolen from exchanges and individuals in the country. The majority of stolen funds, around 58 million yen, can be tied to the hacking of crypto exchange Coincheck earlier this year. In thefts that targeted individuals over 60 percent of incidents the use of similar login details across platforms and accounts. Aside from NEM ($XEM), which was stolen from Coincheck, the most targeted assets were Bitcoin ($BTC) and XRP ($XRP).
