Corners: Markets for Every Corner of the Internet

Key Insights

  • On Dec. 9, 2025, The Sandbox announced the invite-only beta for Corners, an internet capital markets (ICM) platform for content curation built on Base. Corners allows users to create topic-based curation of links from across the internet and organize them into “corners.” Each corner has its own ERC-20 token that grants holders voting power to upvote posts, surfacing the highest-quality content to the top of the feed.
  • Corners is a trading app built for social media content curators, traders, and everyday users. Curators promote quality content, traders speculate on Corner Coins as attention proxies, and non-crypto-native users engage with curated content.
  • Each Corner Coin has a fixed supply of 10 million tokens, traded through Uniswap V4 hooks, with a 3% fee that converts to SAND. 66% of fees are distributed to Corner Coin holders and 34% to the protocol treasury, routing trading activity into SAND-denominated rewards.
  • Corners extends the utility of the SAND token by making it the default asset across all Corner Coin liquidity pools. This design creates a token sink tied to corner creation and trading activity. Users can also pair Corners with USDC & WETH.
  • As of Feb. 18, 2026, Corners has 1,161 different corners and 5,935 unique users. Distribution partners included Farcaster, the Base App, ScribbleDAO, and Zerion.

Primer

The Sandbox, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, is a global distribution ecosystem for digital culture that connects brands, creators, institutions, and consumers worldwide. Leveraging Web3 technologies and AI, The Sandbox enables end-user creation, decentralized economies, and digital social experiences, all powered by its token SAND. With over 400 partners, including Warner Music Group, Gucci, and NBC Universal’s Jurassic World, 8 million users, and 30 million onchain transactions, The Sandbox ecosystem remains one of the largest cultural distribution networks in Web3, with an economic layer provided by SAND.

SAND is the utility token that powers The Sandbox ecosystem, which includes The Sandbox Game, SANDchain, and Corners, a new media curation platform.

On Sept. 30, 2025, The Sandbox outlined its 3.0 vision, a shift beyond gaming into a broader distribution network for digital culture and creator-led economies. On Dec. 2, 2025, The Sandbox made SAND available on Base, an Ethereum Layer-2, via an Aerodrome liquidity pool and Superbridge bridging.

On Dec. 9, 2025, The Sandbox announced the invite-only beta for Corners, a media curation platform built on Base in collaboration with PROPAGANDA, a creative technology studio. Corners completed its public launch on Jan. 14, 2026.

What is Corners?

Corners is a curation platform that uses financial markets to determine popularity across different topics, trends, and communities on the internet. The premise is that internet curation is underpriced labor. Users already collect links, threads, playlists, tools, and knowledge, but that activity rarely compounds into ownership, reputation, or direct monetization. Corners turns these collections into a community-curated segment called “corners” that can be discovered socially and traded as tokenized markets.

The application launched as part of The Sandbox's 3.0 rollout, expanding the ecosystem beyond gaming and into a broader cultural distribution network. Corners was built on Base in collaboration with PROPAGANDA, a creative technology studio, and is built as an internet capital markets (ICM) platform.

The Composition of Corners

A corner is a community-curated collection of lists and posts from anywhere on the internet, from crypto-native to mainstream trends and topics. Each corner is associated with a Corner Coin, an ERC-20 token on Base, each with a fixed supply of 10 million tokens minted at corner creation. With a fixed supply, Corner Coin pricing is determined by trading activity, and rewards are funded through fees rather than inflation.

The second component of the Corners platform is links. Links are individual posts within a corner that can come from social media platforms such as X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Github, Medium, Spotify, or anywhere else on the internet. When adding a link, contributors include a description of why the link belongs in the corner. As more links are added, holders of that corner’s Corner Coin can upvote the most relevant content to the top and filter out noise or spam. Users receive 1 vote per Corner Coin held, with voting power resetting every week.

The user experience is similar to that of existing social media platforms like Reddit or Pinterest. Users browse trending, niche, or community-specific corners, then open a corner page with a curated feed of links, complete with a market dashboard showing that specific Corner’s coin price and volume metrics. From there, users can purchase Corner Coins to express conviction in that corner's relevance or to speculate on increased activity that could lead to price appreciation. To grow the corner, users submit links from anywhere on the internet, add context, and contribute to the feed. Contributors who consistently surface quality content earn SAND rewards based on their curation activity.

Early Traction for Corners

As of Feb. 18, 2026, Corners has 1,161 different corners, 5,935 unique users, 10,509 total posts, 727 comments, and 1,116 votes. A significant portion of the early activity can be attributed to distribution partnerships that placed Corners directly inside surfaces where crypto-native curation already happens. Farcaster, a social media platform, and the Base App, a wallet created by Coinbase, each provided spotlight features for Corners, boosting the application's visibility among active onchain users. ScribbleDAO, a grants-based research DAO, hosted a grant program during the launch window that required participants to create a corner, curate it with content, and share it through referral links. Zerion, a wallet and portfolio application, provided real-time market data infrastructure, enabling traders to evaluate Corner Coin markets without leaving their existing tools.

From Corner Coin Trades to SAND Rewards

Curating on corners by adding links, upvoting content, and holding corner coins entitles the user to a pro-rata share of fees generated by trading activity for that specific token. All coins are paired with either SAND, USDC, or ETH, and trades are routed through Uniswap V4 hooks. Each swap of a Corner Coin incurs a 3% fee, which is converted to SAND immediately. The fee distribution splits into two buckets:

The fees accumulated for tokenholder rewards are distributed pro rata based on the SAND collected from trading activity. These fees accumulate in a reward vault that users can claim. There is a 6-month claim window, and any unclaimed rewards are returned to the pool after the claim period.

Beyond tokenholder rewards, Corners rewards curators who actively participate in the platform's growth by posting links and surfacing quality contributions. There is a weekly evaluation cycle for reviewing curation rewards. Corners' backend scans new content and engagement, runs a manual review of each corner to validate rewards, and calculates payouts based on quality signals, with upvotes as the primary weighting mechanism. Rewards are then distributed proportionally across the top contributors for that epoch. This system blends automated scanning with human review to reduce spam and ensure rewards are not purely a function of low-effort posting volume.

Referrals serve as a growth lever, allowing users to invite others and earn a share of their trading fees. Referral rewards extend across five levels, with the direct referrer earning the largest share and progressively smaller shares as the referral tree deepens:

  • L1 - Direct Referrals: 1%
  • L2 - Referrals of L1: 0.25%
  • L3 - Referrals of L2: 0.1%
  • L4 - Referrals of L3: 0.08%
  • L5 - Referrals of L4: 0.07%

This fee-share referral model aligns incentives to actual economic activity rather than shallow sign-ups, as referral earnings scale with the trading volume of referred users.

Who is Corners for?

Corners is built for everyone, but three overlapping audiences make up the majority of users: curators, traders, and non-Web3 niche communities.

Curators

Curators use Corners as a public bookmarking system to discover what others are consuming in the topics that they enjoy. Curators buy Corner Coins to gain ownership of their corner of focus, incentivizing high-quality contributions and collaboration. For crypto-native curators, the value is not that curation exists. Reddit and X already serve that function. The value is permissionless publishing, transparent ranking through token-weighted upvotes, and a reward path denominated in SAND.

Traders

Traders use Corners as an attention proxy. The asset being traded is not a claim on cash flows from a business, but rather the market's perception of a niche, meme, topic feed, or creator cluster driven by viral momentum. Corners creates an instrument that reflects attention and narrative shifts, enabling traders to identify trends early and profit from Corner Coins. That speculative interest gives traders a reason to return as curators for future topics yet to be discovered.

Non-Web3 niche communities

Non-Web3 niche communities represent Corners' mainstream verticals. The core behavior of saving and sharing links into collections is already mainstream. Pinterest trains users to think in curated collections, and Reddit trains users to accept community ranking as a discovery system. Corners borrows both mental models and attaches a financial layer. The concept of creating a corner extends beyond traditional Web3 topics like trading and NFTs and into everyday interests like reading, sports, and art, enabling non-Web3 users to join and start curating.

How Corners fits within Sandbox’s Broader Ecosystem

The SAND token is at the center of the Sandbox ecosystem. With Corners, SAND extends beyond the metaverse into internet capital markets. Every Corner Coin is paired with SAND, creating a consistent liquidity anchor across thousands of micro-markets and making SAND the default asset users acquire, hold, and earn inside Corners.

The deployment of SAND on Base on Dec. 2, 2025, brought SAND onto the same network as Corners, aligning corner trading activity with SAND value accrual and reward distribution. The Sandbox established SAND liquidity on Base through an Aerodrome liquidity pool, bridged via Superbridge, reducing onboarding friction for users already operating in Base-native wallets and applications.

The Sandbox ecosystem is moving beyond gaming through multiple vectors. SANDchain, an Ethereum Layer-2 powered by ZKsync, focuses on financial infrastructure for the broader creator economy. Corners complements this expansion by functioning as a consumer-facing internet capital markets growth vertical. By converting trading fees into SAND rewards, users are incentivized to earn and hold the ecosystem’s native token through curation and speculation. As participants accumulate SAND, they gain exposure to its broader utilities across the Sandbox game, and SANDchain positioning Corners as an acquisition funnel for the broader ecosystem.

Looking Ahead

Corners' roadmap centers on two priorities: integrating curation into platforms and environments where link-sharing already occurs, and deepening traders' engagement with corners.

On the curation side, the Corners team is launching two features in February 2026 to expand curation beyond the native app and into the environments where link sharing already occurs. The first is a Chrome extension that allows curators to add links to corners without leaving the host platform. Users select a corner, click add, and the link is posted directly from whatever site they are browsing. The second is an AI agent skill that enables agents to act as curators on the platform, posting links and contributing to corners based on a host’s most-liked links, collections, and threads. As agents continue to proliferate across the internet, this feature positions Corners to scale curation beyond human-driven activity and capture content that may not reach mainstream feeds but holds value within niche corners.

On the trading side, the strategy builds on the premise that saving and sharing content precede virality. As trends emerge through curation, Corner Coins serve as market-based signals of narrative momentum. Future integrations with ecosystem partners and infrastructure providers aim to improve market discovery, analytics, and trading access, strengthening the connection between cultural activity and token performance.

These priorities converge on a central constraint: speculation must not eclipse curation. A corner that operates only as a tradable token forfeits the user value created by its curated feed. Because each Corner Coin is directly linked to a specific content stream, trading activity remains anchored to cultural engagement, enabling SAND rewards for contributors while still allowing for speculative activity.

Closing Summary

Corners expands The Sandbox ecosystem beyond the metaverse by turning online content curation into tokenized assets. Corners launched on Base on Jan. 14, 2026, with SAND as the base asset across every Corner Coin market. Early metrics since the public launch show repeat usage, supported by distribution partnerships with Farcaster, the Base App, ScribbleDAO, and Zerion, which have made Corners more accessible across widely adopted applications where crypto-native curation already occurs. Corners ties content curation and trading into a unified interface: a corner bundles links into a public index, a Corner Coin attaches ownership and voting rights to that index, and trading fees are converted into SAND, which is distributed to holders and contributors. This design positions SAND as the unit of account across every corner market, extending its utility beyond The Sandbox Game

If Corners continues to scale, The Sandbox gains a new consumer entry point that does not depend on metaverse participation while still routing value back into SAND through market activity and rewards. The next phase of Corners’ development will test whether the product can embed curation deeper into everyday link-sharing behavior and improve market legibility for traders, both of which are necessary to sustain the early momentum beyond the launch window.
