🍯 Coinhive mines $250,000 of Monero per month

Coinhive, a Javascript miner that uses CPU power from website visitors to mine Monero ($XMR generates $250,000 worth of the cryptocurrency monthly according to the RWTH Aachen University in Germany. The report focused on a four week period earlier this year to see how much Monero was actually mined by Coinhive, which is often hidden from the end user. Overall, Coinhive controlled 1.18 percent of all Monero blocks with a median hash rate of 5.5M h/s during the period. Coinhive's developers receive 30 percent of every minted coin and the authors of the research claim that most of the commission is sent to a small group of people.
