In a report published earlier today, Bithumb disclosed the full scope of a June 20th, 2018 breach that allowed hackers to steal 35 billion KRW (~$31 million) worth of 11 different cryptoassets. After coordinating with other exchanges, where the hackers attempted to sell stolen tokens, Bithumb was able to recover 45% of the funds, bringing the total theft to 19 billion KRW (~$17 million). Withdrawals remain suspended but users are able to trade on the platform as the company continues to hold most funds in cold storage.
