While many assets, including Bitcoin ($BTC) and most notably Chainlink ($LINK) are up year-to-date a single sector is the big winner so far according to Charlie Custer. Exchange tokens, specifically Binance Coin ($BNB), Huobi Token ($HT), and Kucoin Shares ($KCS), are in the top 15 gainers so far this year.

According to Custer these assets share some similarities that may have led to their success. Beyond table stakes features like discounts and rewards some exchange tokens have benefited from their "burn" mechanisms that reduce circulating supply and offer holders access to new initial exchange offerings (IEOs).
