Vertex Protocol is a decentralized exchange (DEX) featuring a trading engine built on Arbitrum, an Ethereum Layer 2 solution. It offers spot and perpetual trading with a universal margin account, allowing users to share margin across all positions and assets.
In April 2022, Vertex Protocol announced a $8.5M seed round, from GSR Investments, Big Brain Holdings, Hack VC, Collab+Currency, Huobi Capital, Jane Street Capital, RNR Capital, JST Capital, Dexterity Capital and HRT Ventures. This was later followed by three more rounds between 2023 and 2024, bringing the total funding to over $10M.
In September 2022, Vertex [rebranded]((https://medium.com/@vertexprotocol/introducing-the-new-vertex-f26fde077b64), designed by Altology. The ‘protocol’ has been removed to represent Vertex’s diverse product offering and an ecosystem of future products.
By October 2022, Vertex launched the Everest Ambassador Program to foster user education and decentralized community participation, supported by comprehensive roadmap updates and frequent testnet iterations throughout its development cycle.
By 2023, Vertex Protocol launched its beta and then full mainnet on Arbitrum. The launch brought CEX-like speed to DEX trading while maintaining self-custody. In July 2023, the team announced a strategic partnership with Notifi, introducing push notifications on the Vertex platform.
In January 2024, Vertex partnered with STFX, a SocialFi protocol, to enhance liquidity, trade execution, and user experience through innovative perpetual markets. While by March, Vertex integrated Transak’s On/Off Ramp solution, allowing users to purchase crypto directly within the app.
In April 2024, Chainlink Data Streams were integrated. This integration enhanced Vertex's security and reliability by providing sub-second price data, crucial for the high-speed operations of derivatives markets.
By July 2024, Vertex launched market-making vaults with SkateFi, enabling passive liquidity provision and yield generation for users.
In November 2024, Vertex adopted Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), enabling seamless $VRTX transfers across Arbitrum, Base, and Blast.
By mid-2025, Vertex pushed active deployments to 9 chains, including Sei, Mantle, Base, Avalanche and others, aiming for 25 EVM chains by year-end.
