About

SyntropyNet is a company that offers network optimization and security solutions. They focus on improving internet performance by leveraging a decentralized and community-driven approach. SyntropyNet provides tools and services for optimizing network routes, enhancing security, and ensuring efficient data transmission. Their aim is to create a more reliable and secure internet infrastructure.

History

Syntropy started as a distributed peer-to-peer content delivery network in 2017 before pivoting to providing internet infrastructure services in early 2019. The Network as a Service (NaaS) platform was originally called NOIA Network before changing its name to Syntropy in December 2020 to highlight its focus on introducing order and harmony into global internet connectivity networks.

The protocol held a private sale on July 3, 2019, where $6.6 million was raised at a token price of $0.0297. Shortly after, the NOIA token was launched on Cobak launchpad and subsequently listed on Kucoin. The NOIA token has a total supply of 1 billion tokens and will undergo inflation at a fixed rate of 5% annually. This inflation rate can be reduced through a decentralized governance vote. At the moment, both the inflation and decentralized governance mechanisms are yet to be implemented by the protocol.

Syntropy makes use of a Distributed Autonomous Routing Protocol (DARP) to route data through available pathways on its network. Also, the protocol's native blockchain will utilize Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) to achieve consensus and produce new blocks. This NPoS mechanism is configured to use Blind Assignment for Blockchain Extension (BABE) for block production and GHOST-based Recursive Ancestor Deriving Prefix Agreement (GRANDPA) for finality.

In September 2021, Syntropy took one step closer to launching its native blockchain by introducing Amber Chain. Amber Chain is the project's Proof-of-Authority blockchain that supports the release of node software as well as onboard validators. After validators have been onboarded, the blockchain will be transitioned into the NPoS, creating a consensus-driven network.
