Parcl is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol on Solana that specializes in synthetic real-world assets. Specifically, Parcl is a perpetual decentralized exchange (perp DEX) that allows users to trade perpetual futures that track the prices of real estate markets.
Introduced in December 2021, Parcl was founded by Trevor Bacon, Kellan Genier, Jason Lewris, and Stephen Robinson with the mission of making real estate more accessible to everyone.
Testnet Versions
In March 2022, Parcl introduced the Homeowners Association (HOA) collection on Solana. The same month, Parcl Testnet 1.0 was held for 12 days. In April 2022, the HOA mint was held and included 3,889 whitelist spots for testnet users. In July 2022, Parcl Testnet 2.0 went live, followed by Parcl Testnet 3.0 in July 2022.
Mainnet Versions
On July 27, 2022, Parcl v1 went live on mainnet for HOA holders before becoming available to the general public on Aug. 4, 2022. Users could trade futures of six markets within the United States. Parcl fully transitioned to Parcl v2 in January 2023. Then, Parcl fully transitioned to Parcl v3 in November 2023.
Token Genesis
Parcl ran three “seasons” where users could accrue Parcl Points by using the platform. Parcl launched Season 1 of Parcl Points in December 2023, Season 2 in January 2024, and Season 3 in February 2024. Prior to Season 3 kicking off, Parcl announced that it would be the final season before the launch of its PRCL token. Season 3 concluded on April 1, 2024, and the Parcl Points leaderboard was finalized. On April 16, 2024, the PRCL token was launched, and eligible users could claim tokens based on the Parcl Points leaderboard. As of April 2024, users continually earn Perpetual Points, and Parcl states that “the first - and largest - distribution of network incentives to Perpetual Points participants is expected in the 2nd half of 2024.”
