Miden is a zk-enabled “edge blockchain” where users execute transactions and manage state locally, then submit zero-knowledge proofs to the network for verification. This architecture eliminates execution and state bloat, improves scalability and privacy, and enables advanced smart contract capabilities without requiring changes to existing programming languages. Miden combines the Actor Model with ZK proofs to support both private and public accounts, allows hybrid applications through message-passing mechanisms called notes, and is optimized for trustless, privacy-preserving, and scalable applications—making it suitable for both retail and institutional adoption.
