Leverj is a DeFi derivatives trading platform built on the Gluon Layer2 network, a bespoke and enhanced version of plasma and rollups that offers the scalability and speed of a centralized exchange. The role of the Leverj Gluon ($L2) token has broadened to encompass the Gluon ecosystem as the governance token. Leverj Spot, Futures, & Instant Transfer apps are the first to use the Gluon Network and prove the scalability and fraud proof properties of Gluon.
Leverj's goal is to build a fast scalable DeFi derivatives platform. In its original form the ambition was to build such a platform on Bitcoin. With the emergence of Ethereum as the programmable blockchain, Leverj shifted from Bitcoin to Ethereum as the layer 1 chain. Through 2017 and 2018, Leverj spent a lot of energy and time in researching ways to make it possible. This was uncharted territory and needed some original and new thinking. Much of scaling was centered around UTXO based models and initial ideas around Plasma was gaining momentum.
Leverj joined that leadership group and helped evolved the idea to include account based constructs and the idea of rollups. That led to the creation of Gluon, a high scalable and decentralized layer 2 technology that brought the best of plasma, rollups, and account based constructs under one umbrella. The Leverj exchange opened with high speed layer 2 spot markets in 2019, launched futures markets in 2020, and instant fast and free transfers on the Ethereum network was made possible in 2020.
