The Juicebox Protocol is a business-model-as-a-service and functions as a programmable treasury for projects on the Ethereum blockchain. The protocol is governed by the JuiceboxDAO which is responsible for the maintenance and development of the protocol.
The Juicebox Protocol allows a project to easily raise funds from it's community on the Ethereum blockchain. Project creators require funding and the use of the Juicebox Protocol creates transparency around the use of provided funds. Due to its focus on funding cycles the protocol is better suited for projects which have regular or predictable costs.
The JuiceboxDAO governs the Juicebox protocol. The decisions, or reconfigurations, proposed and accepted by the DAO, can only affect JuiceboxDAO’s treasury and cannot affect projects already launched using the protocol. The JuiceboxV1 was deployed on July 15, 2021. The JuiceboxV2 protocol is in development with the goal to make improvements to the mint and burn mechanisms available to projects to allow for more creative freedom.
A premined supply of the Juicebox token, JBX, was distributed to the founding contributors for their contributions. Major projects which have used the Juicebox Protocol are AssangeDAO, which raised $55M, and ConstitutionDAO, which raised $41M USD. The tooling provided by the protocol has proven their use cases through these projects.
