eCash is a rebrand of BCHA, the Bitcoin ABC iterated Bitcoin Cash. It is a cryptocurrency platform that leverages the Avalanche consensus protocol to achive blockchain security, near-instant confirmation times, and facilitate future network upgrades. It supports features like staking, eTokens for creating custom tokens, and a denomination system.
On July 1st 2021, BCHA rebranded as eCash, XEC. BCHA was the result of a fork from BCH and is iterated upon by Bitcoin ABC. Functionally, the rebrand from BCHA to eCash did not change BCHA; eCash differs from BCHA in its display and unit of account—’bits’.
eCash is a rebrand of BCHA which is interoperable with the Avalanche consensus algorithm. The intended use case of eCash is for payment. eCash is a unit of account and system for value transfer designed to be scalable with PoS L2 solutions in a more semantically palatable package. Delivered by the Bitcoin ABC team, eCash is mechanistically the same as BCHA, but the display and unit of account differ. eCash is denominated in 8 decimal places such that 1 BCHA = 1,000,000.00 XEC. Upon rebrand, the supply of eCash was based to the current supply of BCHA subject to the exchange rate.
