DeCharge Network is a decentralized infrastructure project focused on electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions. It operates as a community-driven network built on the Solana blockchain, aiming to connect EV owners with charging stations hosted by individuals or businesses. The primary product is the De Charge Beast, a 7-kilowatt portable EV charger designed for use by everyday users rather than large corporations. This device allows hosts to set up charging stations at various locations, such as homes or commercial properties, and integrate them into the network. The system enables hosts to earn rewards based on usage, leveraging blockchain technology to track and distribute incentives.
DeCharge was founded in 2024 by Mohan Kuldeep Ponnada and Dr. Prakash Kamaraj. The project began with early research into autonomous charging solutions for drones and small-scale robotics, ultimately leading to a prototype that placed second in Solana’s Renaissance Hackathon (DePIN track) in 2023.
By mid-2024, the team pivoted to a broader EV infrastructure opportunity, particularly in underserved markets such as India, Southeast Asia, and parts of Africa. DeCharge’s model leverages blockchain to manage charger availability, reward participants, and coordinate data, allowing for lower deployment costs and faster geographic expansion compared to centralized networks.
Throughout 2025, DeCharge achieved cross-industry recognition as the first protocol to operationalize tokenized, investable EV charging stations using DePINFi rails. The network expanded to support multiple hardware product - Beast, Mini, and Titan - each targeting distinct segments (residential, business, fleet, public). Furthermore, the team was able to raise $2.75M from investors including Lemniscap, Colosseum, Virtuals Ventures and others.
