Citrea is a zero-knowledge rollup that uses Bitcoin for data availability and settlement and posts batch proofs and state differences to Bitcoin for reconstructable state. It provides an EVM-compatible Type 2 zkEVM execution environment for Solidity contracts. It uses a BitVM-based trust-minimized two-way peg, Clementine, to bridge BTC into the rollup as cBTC. It also supports ctUSD, a USD stablecoin used for liquidity on Citrea that is backed by short-term U.S. Treasury bills and cash.
