Caldera is a blockchain infrastructure platform specializing in the deployment of customizable, high-performance layer-2 rollups, known as Caldera Chains. It focuses on creating application-specific blockchains that integrate with Ethereum-compatible frameworks, such as the Optimistic Rollup Stack and Arbitrum Orbit, to enhance transaction speed and reduce costs for decentralized applications. Caldera’s infrastructure enables developers to tailor blockchain features, such as gas limits and smart contract sizes, to specific use cases, including gaming and decentralized finance.
In September 2023, Caldera released their first set of Arbitrum Orbit chains. At release, Caldera had 3 partners planning to launch production-grade mainnet Orbit chains - Syndr, Sanko GameCorp, and Volatilis Technology.
In November 2023, the project integrated with LayerZero to bring omnichain support to AppRollups. Through this partnership, users were enabled to collect in-game assets received from one rollup to use in DeFi applications on another rollup, while developers could seamlessly expand those apps to a dedicated Caldera rollup.
In January 2024, Caldera brought RARI Chain to its mainnet.
In April 2024, Treasure partnered with Caldera to launch Treasure Chain, built with Arbitrum Orbit and EigenDA! Through this L2 chain.
In October 2024, Caldera enabled fast withdrawals on Arbitrum Orbit Chain, representing a major upgrade to cross-chain user experience, reducing user withdrawal times.
By March 2025, the Rollup Engine was released, transforming rollups from static chains into dynamic, programmable infrastructure.
In June 2025, the team released the Metalayer Mainnet, Caldera introduced a robust, shared interoperability solution engineered to orchestrate intent-based cross-chain interactions for the entire rollup ecosystem.
In October 2025, Caldera published case studies illustrating the global impact rollups have on payment rails, emphasizing simplified cross-border transactions. Studio Chain and SANDchain also went live on Caldera infrastructure in Q3 2025.
In November 2025, Intuition - a data and identity protocol - launched its mainnet on Caldera’s infrastructure, demonstrating chain customizability and composable data models. At the same time, Capx Chain, focused on decentralized finance and payments, also successfully deployed its mainnet via Caldera.
