Mantle Network is an Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution designed to enhance transaction efficiency. It uses Optimistic Rollups to process transactions off-chain, batching them for settlement on Ethereum’s Layer-1 for security. Its modular architecture separates key functions: transaction execution occurs on an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible layer, consensus and settlement rely on Ethereum, and data availability is managed by EigenDA, a decentralized solution built on EigenLayer. This structure aims to reduce transaction costs and increase throughput compared to Ethereum’s base layer.

Mantle Network’s native token, MNT, is used for gas fees and governance within its DAO framework. Originally developed under BitDAO, it rebranded in May 2023, consolidating ecosystems. Features include compatibility with Ethereum smart contracts and tools, support for decentralized applications (dApps), and integration with EigenLayer for enhanced security and scalability through ETH restaking.
