What is Mantle Network's MI4?
Mantle Index Four (MI4) is a tokenized fund developed by Mantle Network in collaboration with Securitize, aiming to be "the S&P500 of crypto." MI4 is designed to provide diversified, on-chain exposure to major crypto assets and stablecoins, combined with staking yields. Here’s what MI4 entails:
- Asset Composition: MI4 allocates its assets as follows:
- 50% Bitcoin (BTC)
- 26.5% Ethereum (ETH)
- 8.5% Solana (SOL)
- 15% stablecoins
- Yield Generation: In addition to holding these assets, the index fund captures staking yield from mETH (Mantle Staked Ether), bbSOL, and sUSDe.
- Objective: The fund is structured to give users a simple, diversified way to access a broad spectrum of the crypto market, echoing the function of traditional index funds like the S&P500 in conventional finance.
- Governance and Structure: The initiative was approved by the Mantle community through MIP 32. Mantle's treasury will act as the anchor participant, initially supplying $400 million to the fund1.
- Launch and Management: As of April 2025, Mantle has shared its plans for the launch, and the fund is structured as a separate entity with Mantle as an owner/investor.
