What‌ ‌the‌ ‌Fork‌ ‌is‌ ‌Going‌ ‌On?‌

To no one’s surprise who’s been following DeFi, we have another emoji coin set to launch. This time a Uniswap fork named after a Japanese dish - SushiSwap. However this one stands out for a few reasons.

Following the launch of YAM, most of these emoji coins failed to garner significant attention. Many came off as gimmicky knockoffs of YAM (which is a funny thing to say about coins inspired by a ponzi scheme-like digital vegetable).

SushiSwap seems to have taken the basic emoji coin playbook of:

  1. Forking popular DeFi protocols
  2. Implementing liquidity mining
  3. Advertising unaudited smart contracts
  4. Slapping an emoji on top of it
