The non-profit that operates Wikipedia, the Wikimedia Foundation, has tapped BitPay to handle Bitcoin ($BTC) and Bitcoin Cash ($BCH) transactions. The Wikimedia Foundation has accepted Bitcoin for several years, but recent demand for donations in altcoins sparked the transition to BitPay as the donations processor. In the press release, the Wikimedia Foundation expressed the compatibility of a global payment system and Wikipedia's global knowledge sharing vision.
