The Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has had success in tracking criminals who use cryptocurrencies to launder proceeds from drug sales, Matthew Allen, an ICE official said Tuesday. When criminals convert cryptocurrencies into fiat – and vice versa – vulnerabilities are created, he said.
