Robert Leshner is the CEO and Co-Founder of Superstate, an asset management firm specializing in modernizing investing through tokenized financial products. Previously, he co-founded Compound Labs in 2017, which developed Compound — one of the first decentralized finance applications to allow users to borrow cryptocurrency or earn interest on their crypto holdings.
The Q&A below is aimed at highlighting the intersection of entrepreneurship, tokenization, and policy.
Q1: What led you to start your first business, and why did you choose to build in crypto?
A1: I entered the crypto space in 2017 by co-founding Compound Labs as a way to start addressing inefficiencies in financial markets — where transactions are slow, opaque, and reliant on intermediaries. Blockchain offers a more transparent, automated, and efficient way to reimagine these systems.
