The Thai FInance Ministry announced that digital asset licensing took effect Tuesday, July 24th, 2018, and interested parties can apply for official licenses from the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Qualifications for those seeking a license to operate a digital asset business include being a company with business operations in Thailand, having paid-up registered capital as stipulated, and having well-prepared work system and sound financial status. Sellers of unauthorized cryptos and those setting up unauthorized seminars to solicit crypto investments will be fined and could face jail terms.
