On Friday Switzerland's Federal Council issued a report outlining a legal framework for blockchain technologies. In the report, the council states that existing laws are well suited for dealing with blockchain but some amendments must be made. Chief among those is an amendment to existing securities laws that will give more certainty to the legal status of tokens. Other recommendations deal with how cryptoassets are account for in bankruptcy proceedings and a proposal to create a new “authorization category” for infrastructure providers in the sector.
