Seraph's circulating market cap declined 29.4% from $49.3 million at token launch to $34.8 million by quarter-end, driven partly by price dilution caused by a 23% increase in circulating supply.
Total trading volume reached $1.6 billion in Q1 2025, with the highest daily volume spike of $50.3 million occurring shortly after the token generation event (TGE).
Network usage peaked early, with transactions hitting 61,888 and active users at 60,655 shortly after launch.
Season 2 introduced gameplay and economic enhancements, including a record reward pool of 6.2 million SERAPH tokens and 50 BNB (valued at over $1 million), alongside new player engagement systems like mercenary missions and the Fate Card mechanic.
The modular ActPassmarketplace facilitated smooth asset management across seasons, notably supporting the preservation and interoperability of key game assets.
Primer
Seraph is a blockchain-powered action RPG developed by Seraph Studio and launched on opBNB, BNB Chain’s Layer-2 network. The project debuted its native SERAPH token on Jan. 6, 2025, alongside the start of its in-game Genesis Season. Designed as a free-to-play, play-to-earn title, Seraph rewards players with tokens and digital assets for completing challenges and progressing through a dungeon-crawling, loot-centric experience. All in-game items—including gear, weapons, and characters—are onchain NFTs, enabling true player ownership and asset liquidity via in-game trading.
Seraph is set in a dark fantasy world, where players take on the role of warriors and progress through procedurally generated dungeons and PvE combat zones. The gameplay combines skill-based combat with RPG progression mechanics, offering multiple character classes, weapons, and a growing suite of environments and bosses. The title leans into Web3-native elements through item drops, token-linked upgrades, and seasonal resets that preserve challenge and incentivize retention.
At the protocol level, Seraph’s infrastructure is anchored by ActPass, a modular smart contract system that manages asset custody and in-game transactions without compromising UX. Players can deposit tokens and NFTs into ActPass and use them instantly in-game, bypassing the friction of traditional onchain transfers. Its seasonal design introduces new content, resets ladders, and refreshes economic loops, most recently with Season 2’s expanded reward pool and gameplay features. Economic sustainability is supported through token sinks like Soul Spar, which require players to spend in-game resources and token-linked assets to access high-level rewards.
Beyond gameplay, Seraph’s broader ambition is to develop a decentralized gaming ecosystem where players, creators, and communities can all contribute to and benefit from onchain economies. Roadmap plans include the introduction of new characters, worlds, and game modes; further NFT integrations; and cross-game identity layers powered by ActPass. By leveraging BNB Chain’s scalability and Seraph Studio’s game-first approach, the project aims to combine traditional gaming UX with blockchain-native incentives in a sustainable model.
On Jan. 6, 2025, Seraph launched its token through a Token Generation Event (TGE), debuting with a circulating market cap of $49.3 million and a token price of $0.44. Over the course of Q1, the market cap of SERAPH declined 29.4%, closing the quarter at $34.8 million with a token price of $0.17. This sharper decline in token price relative to the change in market cap can partly be attributed to a gradual increase in circulating supply, which reached 23% by quarter’s end.
Volume
In Q1 2025, Seraph recorded $1.6 billion in total volume, with $69.6 million in volume recorded during the 48 hours following TGE. The largest daily spike in token volume was recorded on Jan. 19, 2025, with a volume of $50.3 million. Weekly average volume dropped from $38.0 million in mid-January to approximately $2.5 million by the end of March. By quarter-end, the average daily volume had settled at approximately $18.5 million.
Usage and Network Activity
Seraph’s network activity in Q1 2025 showed early spikes in both transaction volume and user participation following the game’s TGE. The platform recorded a peak of 61,888 transactions on January 8, just two days after the TGE, indicating high initial engagement with the ActPass marketplace, gameplay, or token-related systems. However, transaction counts declined throughout the quarter, dropping below 10,000 per day by early March.
User activity followed a similar trajectory, in line with broader market conditions among newly launched gaming projects. Seraph recorded a post-TGE peak of 60,655 total active users, though the number of daily actives trended downward over time.
Qualitative Analysis
Seasonal Progression and ActPass Dynamics
Following its TGE, Seraph adopted a seasonal in-game content cycle, with each season introducing new gameplay elements, reward structures, and community engagement initiatives. Genesis Season 1 established the foundational model: competitive ladders, exclusive NFT drops, and token-based incentives.
Throughout these seasonal transitions, the ActPass marketplace served as the protocol’s core infrastructure for in-game trading and interoperability across seasons. Utilizing ActPass, players may deposit assets and have them quickly reflected in their in-game accounts, enabling real-time usage without the typical latency associated with onchain interactions. During Season 2, the ActPass system enabled transfers to the Chaos Stash, a storage mechanism that preserved asset ownership and provenance while allowing players to carry key items into subsequent seasons.
The ActPass marketplace’s architecture is modular, with dedicated smart contracts supporting distinct asset categories, including Genesis NFTs, non-Genesis NFTs, costumes, and consumables.
Season 2: The Fate Season
Season 2 builds on the competitive and reward-focused framework established in Genesis Season 1, where players earned over 104,500.0 SERAPH tokens via leaderboard incentives. The reward pool for Season 2 totaled 6.2 million SERAPH and 50.0 BNB tokens (valued at over $1 million), marking Seraph’s largest reward pool to date. Launched on March 6, 2025, this expansion was driven by several notable system overhauls and gameplay features introduced in Season 2.
The Soul Spar Destruction mechanism was updated to reward players based on damage contribution rather than a single victor, increasing fairness and broadening access to SERAPH token rewards.
Seraph also launched a mercenary deployment system, allowing players to send units on automated missions to earn Fire Feathers, which can be exchanged for tokens.
Additionally, the Chaos Dungeon received gameplay optimizations that improved responsiveness and encounter flow.
Gameplay depth was also enhanced by additions such as the Druid class, which introduced a nature-based playstyle with skills such as Elemental Summon, Bloodthirsty Wolfpack, and Titan’s Ragebear.
Additionally, the Fate Card and Fate Store systems introduced a new layer of resources. Cards obtained from Chaos Dungeon treasure chests could be exchanged in sets of five for Fate Points, which were redeemable for a range of in-game items.
Closing Summary
Q1 2025 represented a strategic period of growth for Seraph, characterized by adaptability following its Token Generation Event. Despite facing typical post-launch market volatility, reflected in a 29.4% decline in circulating market cap, Seraph demonstrated resilience through strong early engagement. Total trading volume hit a substantial $1.6 billion, underscoring significant initial interest and market participation.
The launch of Season 2 further amplified this growth ethos, bringing deeper gameplay mechanics, expansive reward structures, and novel player engagement tools. Innovations such as the mercenary deployment system, the Fate Card mechanic, and optimized gameplay experiences significantly enriched player interactions and community engagement. Central to Seraph’s sustainable growth model was the ActPass marketplace, which ensured seamless asset management and interoperability across gameplay seasons, preserving player value and encouraging long-term engagement.
As Seraph transitions into subsequent quarters, the strategic initiatives and robust community foundations established post-TGE position it effectively to capitalize on future growth opportunities and continued innovation within its ecosystem.
