🔌 Some miners in Washington to see 50 percent hike in power costs

The commissioners of the Grant County public utility in central Washington state have voted to increase rates for crypto miners from 15 percent beginning next year, to 35 percent the following year, and finally 50 percent thereafter. The utility cited new service inquiries that started in the summer of 2017 and asked for a total of 2,000 megawatts of power. This equates to more than three times the power used to power all Grant County homes, farms, businesses, and industry, and 75 percent of those requests were from cryptocurrency miners.
